October 22, 2020 - moovel has been one of the first companies worldwide to develop multimodal mobility platforms and a pioneer in this field. Daimler Mobility and BMW Group are now integrating the part of moovel that develops mobility platforms for municipalities and transport associations to the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary Mobimeo.
This combines the experience and digital expertise of moovel with the local transport expertise of Deutsche Bahn. At the same time, Daimler Mobility and the BMW Group will become a minority shareholder in Mobimeo GmbH. With its B2C business, moovel is targeting end customers. The main product for those customers is the REACH NOW App. The existing B2C business remains within the moovel Group.
The bundling of moovel's and Mobimeo's competencies is expected to enable a faster scaling of multimodal platforms for public transport. The cooperation will provide users of public transport apps with a wider range of services and more flexibility in the use of rail, bus, bike and car sharing.
In the course of the integration, around 75 employees will move from the moovel Group to Mobimeo GmbH - both companies are based in Berlin. John David von Oertzen, the current CEO of the moovel Group, will take over the management of Mobimeo.
The expertise of moovel strengthens the technological competence of Deutsche Bahn. We are confident that users will benefit from this partnership and are looking forward to continue playing a role in shaping this path as a minority shareholder.
